What are the most important questions our customers ask us?
1. Do you use Electronic or Magnetic Ballasts? We use Electronic Ballasts. Magnetic Ballasts cause electromagnetic field rays (EMF), which are linked to cancer. Electronic Ballasts are newer technology and eliminate EMF rays. Island Sun uses 100% electronic ballasts. This also reduces power and uses 40% less electricity than other tanning systems. 2. What is the life on your tanning bed bulbs, and how soon will I need to replace them? This can be a costly maintenance expense, depending on bulb life. Ours have a 1000 hour bulb life, which means that if you tan three times a week, for 20 minutes, they will last 19 years. Replacement is usually done for a set of all bulbs, and the cost is $15/bulb, plus shipping.
3. Do your tanning beds have reflector technology? Yes, we do. This significantly increases the tanning power of your bed. Island Sun uses reflector lamps, and our tanning power is increased by 50% versus conventional lamps. Don't just count lamps, get the most power for your dollar. Our 18 bulb beds are equivalent to 27 bulbs with non reflector lamps. Our 22 bulb beds are equivalent to 33 lamps with non reflector lamps.
4. Why are your beds the Healthy Tanning Beds? Because our tanning beds eliminate the electromagnetic field rays, making them less of a health risk, and they provide Vitamin D, the healthiest form of Vitamin D next to the sun. Low levels of Vitamin D have been linked to depression.
